The New Restaurants at the Kite Beach Kiosk, Dubai

When we moved to Dubai six months ago, they were doing up the beach nearest our house. Kite Beach is famous for being the only place in Dubai that you’re allowed to kite surf, but it used to have very few facilities. That’s all changed now…..

…and although you still see the occasional bulldozer {much to Ivo’s delight}, the running track is pretty much finished, the beach is newly ‘nourished’ and a fab block of restaurants has finally opened. There’s even public loos and showers, plus beach volley ball courts, so it’s a great place to take the children. We also love it for a cheap and cheerful date night.

Once the sun goes down and the breeze picks up, it’s a lovely place to go for a romantic stroll, and most importantly, a truly fantastic Mexican meal.

We tried Taqado, one of the restaurants in the Kite Beach Kiosk, and it completely rocked our world. They serve all your Mexican favourites, with generous portions, and possibly the best tortilla chips and guacamole this side of the Atlantic.

We shared quesadilla with chicken and a beef burrito, both served with salsa and sour cream, with a side of nachos. A great dinner under the stars for under 100 AED {£20}.

We looked longingly at the churros, but even after a stroll along the running track {nothing too strenuous}, we were still too full. Next time!
