Brilliant Box-Sets

Box-sets are the best thing that happened to our marriage. It started during pregnancy. I was too knackered to go out, but I didn’t want to completely fall off the cultural and conversational map. Problem solved – I bought a couple of recent box-sets, and my evenings instantly felt full. No more watching re-runs of Come Dine With Me – yippee! Then, once Ivo was born, my husband and I got seriously into….

Downtown Abbey – we were playing catch-up, so it lasted us a while. We tried Breaking Bad, but it was too intense for my hormone-addled brain – I couldn’t sleep after each episode – not a good combination with night feeds!

Then we discovered Homeland, which basically saved our marriage. We found ourselves talking about the characters in the same way we used to gossip about our friends. Sad but true.

This time round, House of Cards and Game of Thrones kept us going through the hard early months of Arthur’s life, and at the moment we’re watching True Detective, which is insanely good. Honestly – download it now! We’ve only got about three episodes left though, so if you’ve got any box-sets to suggest, we’ve got evenings to spare….
